Meet at the zoo parking lot and use one car to go to the start. Maybe park in the garage at Church Market. The route runs from downtown Roanoke to the top of Mill Mountain. The route starts at the fountain on Church Ave. near the old firehouse. It then proceeds through Elmwood Park and along Williamson Road to the Walnut Street Bridge. After crossing the bridge, the route follows the river for a while before returning to Walnut Street. The last (and steepest) part of the walk is along the old Mill Mountain road up to the star.
