We will start at the AT Ranger-Station trailhead on VA-16 in
Smyth County. The trail is mainly a
downhill hike the whole way. We'll be
able to view the exhibits inside the Ranger Station plus check out one of the
best shelters on the AT, the Partnership Shelter, 100 yards behind the Ranger
Station. On the way to AT Atkins trailhead we'll pass by an old school house
that has been turned into a museum.
