Catawba Valley Trail-Stone Coal Gap-Lick Branch Trail

10.7 miles, moderate terrain</p>
25 or 30 mile drive from the Orange Market including the shuttle, $3.00 carpool fee</p></p>

To drop the shuttle car, in New Castle take VA-311 North to New Castle. Turn right on VA-615/Main 
St.  At Court House, turn right on 
VA-616/Court St, right on VA-690/Cuba/Maggie Maw/FS-182, take right fork 
on FS-5026 to trailheads. <BR><BR>

Catawba Valley trail starts opposite the Andy Layne trailhead parking on VA-779.  <BR><BR>

The route follows the Catawba Valley Trail to the top of North Mountain with vistas 
to the north and south.  Go right on the North Mt Trail.  It then descends into Stone Coal Gap 
where you cross the road and climb Broad Mountain and then descend to Lick Branch where it 
follows the creek with numerous crossings down to FS-5026</p>
