Drive out US-460 to Pembroke and turn right at Tagent Outfitters onto Cascades Dr for another mile or so. The hike follows the Creekside Trail which frequently crosses Little Stony Creek (on bridges). The trail ends at the Cascades - an impressive waterfall.

It will then go up the nature Conservancy Trail to Barney's Wall, a cliff that features a 700-foot drop with a great view of the New River Valley. From there it will continue on along the ridge-top of Butt Mountain to the location of an old fire lookout tower.

We will back-track to the Falls and then return via the fire road.
