This is one of the easier ascents to the James River Face Wilderness Area's highest points. The hike starts on the Petite's Gap Road trailhead and ascends gradually using the Sulphur Spring Trail, passing arguably the best viewpoint in the entire wildernThis hike takes in three levels of history of the Appalachian Trail in the James River Face Wilderness Area, near Glasgow. The hike starts up the Piney Ridge Trail, which was the original A.T. alignment back in the 1930's. This section is 3.5 miles long
