The hike is located in Roanoke and Craig County, and starts at the Rt. 624 road crossing. The hike climbs a rocky ridge with nice views of the valley below, before reaching Dragon's Tooth. Then it follows the ridge of Cove Mt. as it curves around Miller's Cove, finally descending past the Pickle Branch shelter to the suspension bridge over Trout Creek.
