Hungry Mother State Park, Lake Loop Trail & Molly's Knob Vista Trail.



Directions to trailhead:

On I-81, take exit 47 and then take 11 South. After a little over a mile, take a right on to 16. Follow this into Hungry Mother State Park (fee required of $2-$3). Take a right immediately after the P6 lot and continue on the road until you reach a cul-de-sac parking lot. The sign for the Lake Trail Loop is at the end of the cul-de-sac.

This will be around a 7 to 8 mile hike located in Marion, VA. This is an overall moderate rated hike. 98 miles from Salem, $5 carpool and a $4 per car kiosk fee at the Park. The trail going up to the top of the Vista is a bit strenuous, but short and well worth the hike, featuring excellent views. The Vista Trail is a side trail and not mandatory to complete the loop we will be making. We'll meet at the Park and Ride off I-81 at exit 140 and load up at 8am, traveling south down I-81 we'll get off at Exit 50 for a break at the Exxon station on Nick's Creek Rd. Another short 8 miles will be left to arrive at the trailhead.<
