The hike goes north starting at the northern end of RATC's section, Black Horse Gap. Here the AT crosses the Blue Ridge Parkway (BRP) at mile 97.7. It finishes at Bear Wallow Gap, where the AT crosses VA-43 very close to the Blue Ridge Parkway Mile 90.0
