Daleville to Troutville

Meet at the commuter parking lot in Daleville, and put a shuttle car at the AT crossing at 4088 Lee Hwy. You can walk up US-220 to the AT or walk towards Hay Rock on the old AT and turn right when you get to the AT and smell some roses. This hike will head north on the AT, passing through woods and come to Virginia Route 11 near Troutville.

The hike is located in Botetourt County.This up-and-back Appalachian Trail hike begins at a small parking lot on Route 11 at the Troutville town limits. After crossing railroad tracks, hikers ascend a grassy hill with excellent views. The trail then crosses a road and begins the climb to Fullhardt Knob. Shortly before the summit and shelter are reached, a side trail leads to a viewpoint.

We may use part of the old AT on the hike back down.
