Catawba Valley Trail and North Mountain to Stone Coal Gap

The Catawba Valley trailhead is opposite the Andy Layne trailhead parking on VA-779.

We will be hiking up the Catawba Valley Trail to the summit of North Mountain. This was a terrible piece of the AT during the period that the AT was moved off McAfee Knob, but has been constructed into the beautiful trail of today by the Mid-Week Crew.

We turn right when we reach the North Mountain trail at the ridgeline to Stone Coal Gap at VA-748.
