The Catawba Valley trailhead is opposite the Andy Layne trailhead parking on VA-779. We will be hiking up the Catawba Valley Trail to the summit of North Mountain and back. There are limited views from the summit of the Catawba Valley and Craig County.

This was a terrible piece of the AT during the period that the AT was moved off McAfee Knob, but has been constructed into the beautiful trail of today by the Mid-Week Crew.
