Dave Morgan
Dave Morgan is a vocalist-percussionist who has played music professionally
for the past 33 years as a single, in duo's, small groups and big bands. Dave
chose music at the age of eight and was playing professionally by the age of
fourteen.
His teachers include: Jon Metzger (Elon College), George Gabor (Indiana
University), Joe Cusatis (Peter Nero Trio), Joe La Barbara (Tony Bennett
Trio), Joe Morello (Dave Brubeck Quartet), Philly Jo Jones (Miles Davis
Quintet), John Von Ohlen (Stan Kenton Orchestra), Alan Foust (Commercial
Advertising Composer, NYC), and Jim Edison (Arranger, Big Band Leader, Las
Vegas)
As well as many local and regional artists and groups, including Don Edward's
Big Band featuring Frankie Lester [Charlotte, NC], Dave has performed with:
Carol Lawrence (Benefit Concert), Bob Hope (The Bob Hope Show), Phil Harris
(Fedigan Golf Classic, Phoenix, AZ), Guy Lombardo Orchestra (Concert),
Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra (Concert), Indianapolis Brass Choir (Benefit
Concerts), and Marvin Stamm (Small Group Concert), and Bob Peckman (Chateau
Morrisette Black Dog Jazz Festival)
Dave has a pleasing way of touching his audience, leaving them with the
feeling they've made a new friend...because they have.
His recent performances include The Greenbrier (WV A), Montano's and the
Hotel Roanoke [V A], Doe Run Lodge and the Woodberry Inn [Blue Ridge
Parkway], an industrial film for Nation's Bank and Don Edward's Big Band
featuring Frankie Lester [Charlotte, NC], and Leon's and Noble's
Restaurants (Winston-Salem, NC). Dave has performed at Ruth's Chris
Steak Houses, Holiday Inns, Adam's Mark Hotels and Radisson Hotels. Dave
has also played for Jazz Clubs, the NFL Colts, and has entertained in clubs,
restaurants, country clubs and music clinics.
Morgan has demonstrated his versatility as a well rounded musician,
having played jazz, American songbook, rock and country through the
years. Dave's experience performing
to discriminating audiences qualify him as a first class artist.
